A Year Ago We Left Our Hearts In The Hospital 💔💔
We were discharged from the hospital and went home without the twins 😢. What made it more difficult was knowing the excitement of ‘moving out’ out of the hospital and bringing our first born HOME. Instead the twins needed some extra time in the hospital to get stronger before they could come home
If any parents are experiencing the NICU for the first time and trying to process their new normal…being sad, afraid, anxious, stressed, unsure, just wanting your baby home, is normal.
NICU Coming Home Day
Not many understand the emotional toll that parents experience when it comes to leaving their baby in the NICU, but why would they if they don’t go through it. There is no manual for it, and not many people talk about it. For those days and weeks it felt like we were living on edge. One day could be great and then the next everything could change. Then on top of that monitoring and tracking two babies. The first few days were a blur. Our brains were constantly in learning mode, soaking up medical terms, what beeping tones indicated and numbers nonstop. There was no time to curl up in bed and be sad, especially with a two-year old at home. Nope, we were operating around the clock, going back and forth to the hospital, my wife during the day and me after work trying to create some sort of balance. 〰️If any parents are experiencing the NICU for the first time and trying to process their new normal…being sad, afraid, anxious, stressed, unsure, just wanting your baby home, is normal. Just try and remember that they are in the best hands with the amazing NICU nurses and doctors who care for these babies and want them to go home when they are ready. If you are feeling any of these things or have any questions, feel free to reach out ♥️♥️
